Biography
I was born to an Evangelical Free Church pastor's family in 1960. When I was 9 years old, my father was killed in an accident while returning from an evangelistic campaign in another city. My parents introduced me to Christ, and I remember first encountering Jesus when I was 7 years old.
In 1980, while I was studying to be an electrical engineer, God clearly called me into the ministry. I immediately left the university and enrolled in seminary studies, where I graduated in 1986, having concentrated on New Testament and Christian education. While I was in seminary, I met my wife, Doris Mayorga, who was also a student there. We have two children, Samaris Sarai, 22, and Samuel Josue, 19. My wife has a ministry focused on adolescents, especially in the area of spiritual guidance.
Since graduating from seminary, I have devoted my life to teaching, wherein lies my gift and my passion. I realized my gifts in writing special courses focused on understanding and producing written text. I see this as a growing need that all believers in the local church develop the ability to understand and teach the Bible.
At this time, I am part of a body of Elders in the evangelical church "God is Love" (Dios es Amor). I have been assigned the role of coordinator of the area of education in the church. This includes all formal and non-formal programs that the church offers. Some of the areas include instruction of new converts, ministry formation for believers, children's curriculum, mentors, and education for the disabled.
As an extension of the vision of the church, I help in a network of churches that is developing philosophies, plans and programs for theological education based totally in the local church.
