Donation FAQs

Thank you for considering LATN sponsorship. The following is a list of questions often asked by individuals, families, or churches seeking information about our scholarship program and other funding needs. We hope that this information addresses any questions you might have, and will help you decide whether to make a committment supporting LATN with your donation.

  1. Where does my scholarship donation go?
  2. Does my donation go directly to a student?
  3. How does LATN determine which students are eligible to receive scholarships?
  4. How much of a scholarship can a student receive? Can a student receive a "full ride?"
  5. What happens when a student loses their eligibility to receive a scholarship?

2. Does my donation go directly to a student?

All scholarship donations go into a common fund from which all eligible students receive their scholarships.  No funds are directly disbursed to our students.

3. How does LATN determine which students are eligible to receive scholarships?

LATN bases scholarship eligibility on a combination of several factors: economic status, number of hours they are involved in ministry on a weekly basis, and grade point average.  These three factors are combined for each student to determine not only overall eligiblity, but the amount of the scholarship.  A final decision is determined by the Academic Dean's office and LATN's Administrative Department.

4. How much of a scholarship can a student receive?  Can a student receive a "full ride" scholarship?

As stated in the FAQ above, three factors are used to determine the eligibility for and amount of a scholarship.  Scholarships typically range from 30% to 70% of their tuition.  We believe that there is value in a student extending the effort to pay for at least a portion of their tuition, therefore no students will receive a 100% (full ride) scholarship.

5. What happens when a student loses their eligibility to receive a scholarship?

Every semester in which a student enrolls, their scholarship eligibility status is reviewed for any changes.  If a student's employment, ministry or academic standing changes, the amount of scholarship they can receive will be adjusted.  If it's determined that they are no longer eligible to receive a scholarship, they will be informed and the funds will be made available to other students.
