Biblical Theology Program

The biblical theology program seeks to hone students’ skills in theology and biblical interpretation. Emphasis is placed on bringing biblical theology to bear on the social and cultural realities of Latin America. Students’ spiritual lives are also deepened and their leadership skills are developed. This program requires 60 semester hours of credit. Courses are taken in three 15 week semesters annually. Students study in classes of 6 to 16 students, in which they have intense interaction with one another and the professor. A thesis is optional.

Upon completion of the biblical theology track, students will demonstrate:

  • Ability to create biblically based theological solutions for challenges presented in contemporary life and thought.
  • Capacity for sound exegesis of the Scriptures, making effective use of historical, literary, theological, and canonical analysis.
  • Skill in carrying out qualitative research in their cultural and social contexts, evaluating the findings theologically, and applying the results for more effective ministry.
  • Capacity for communicating the gospel effectively in a variety of contemporary cultures.
  • Ability to cultivate their own spiritual growth and the growth of others.
  • Effectiveness in equipping leaders and educators.
  • Skill in interpersonal communication.

LATN also cultivates in the students a genuine spirituality, an ethic founded in Christian love, a servant’s attitude and a heart for missions.
